Strategic analysis: by 2024, the wireless base station department will double
Driven by the explosive growth of emerging 5G networks, the number of new base station departments deployed will double between 2018 and 2024 5G relies on the network architecture using traditional macro cells and low-power small cells in the frequency band below 6 GHz and millimeter wave. Strategy Analytics Advanced Semiconductor Application (ASA) Service Report "2017 - 2024 Wireless Base Station Industry Forecast: What Should You Know?" It is predicted that the compound annual growth rate of the 5G base station industry segment will exceed the expected 100%. The rapid growth of 5G, coupled with the continuous growth of 4G networks, will provide equipment for nearly 9.4 million new and upgraded wireless base stations deployed in 2024.
"The 5G era has come, and we are entering a dynamic era in the wireless base station market," said Eric Higham, director of the Advanced Semiconductor Application (ASA) service department. "The new architecture with large-scale MIMO antenna, small cell and millimeter wave frequency will provide a lot of opportunities for the compound semiconductor industry."
"Operators have already provided 5G fixed and mobile broadband services, and we hope to see these products expand rapidly," said Christopher Taylor, service director of RF and Wireless Components (RFWC). "These new 5G products will increase the number of base station departments and user equipment, but they will also benefit the underlying 4G networks, which need to be used as anchors and backup beyond the 5G coverage."
